A Two Week Theater Camp for ages 5-12 featuring

The Extraordinary Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon!

Have you ever used your imagination to solve a problem or get yourself out of a difficult situation? Have you ever used your imagination to turn something ordinary into something extraordinary?

Imagine if you had a magical purple crayon, and could create anything. What would you draw?

Come join Harold (and his magical purple crayon) to create an original, amazing on-stage adventure! Harold is a curious, imaginative, and resourceful person who creates the world he wishes to explore by drawing it and watching it come to life. Need a moon? A castle? A rocket to travel to outer space? Harold will draw these and more as we create an original adaptation of the well-known stories.

Each summer camper will get to choose their focus on stage performance or set design and production (and for those who are ambitious, both)! Those who choose set production will work with professional artists and designers to create an enchanting visual world for Harold's adventures. Those who choose performance will have the opportunity to collaborate with professional writers, storytellers and performers to create Harold's adventures, invent their very own characters, and bring this imaginative and magical story to life on stage!

We will incorporate our theatrical favorites -- masks, puppets, pantomime, music and magic -- then add dynamic sets and visual creations to manifest Harold's marvelous world.

Of course don't forget that we'll be spending a lot of time outdoors too! Each day, campers will have a picnic snack and lunch outside, followed by plenty of free-time to wander the garden, play soccer, basketball, whiffle ball and Frisbee, build houses in fairyland, play on the jungle gym, make bubbles and chalk designs, get wet with water games and more. Plus, we'll be sure to squeeze in a couple of hikes on our nearby trails!

Our days will be filled with educational workshops with professional artists, writers, performers, designers and musicians, yet there will still be plenty of time to explore the outdoors, play sports, create, and dream!
